Communion/Lord’s Supper
Christians were commanded to partake of both the bread and the fruit of the vine (1 Corinthians 11:26). 2. Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for sin, once time for all time (Hebrews 9:24-29). Therefore, communion is not a re-sacrifice of Jesus. Hence the elements do not turn into the literal body and blood of Christ. 3. Communion was only served on Sunday (Acts 20:7). Those who argue that serving it less often would make it more meaningful, never make the same argument concerning passing the collection plate. And yet, a weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper has as much Scripture behind it as a weekly offering (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:18-34; 16:1-2; Hebrews 10:25).
