Doctrine: Is It Important?
“Doctrine” is simply a word that means “teaching”. To say that doctrine isn’t important is the same thing as saying that what Jesus taught is irrelevant. 2. Jesus cannot be separated from what He taught (John 12:48). 3. The teachings/doctrines found in the Bible are God’s thoughts, His views (Isaiah 55:8-9; 1 Corinthians 2:9-13). 4. Doctrinal deviation is condemned (Galatians 1:6-9; 2 John 9-11; Revelation 22:18-19). 5. If doctrine doesn’t matter, then why all the warnings about false teachers? (Matthew 7:15; Acts 20:30; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15; 1 Timothy 4:1-4; 2 Timothy 4:2-4; 1 John 4:1). Are these warnings meaningless?
